Edge data centers: A guide to suppliers
Uptime Institute has identified and researched 46 suppliers of small-scale data centers globally. Most suppliers provide small walk-in data centers; almost half provide micro data centers (MDCs) that tightly encapsulate racks and equipment for a smaller footprint.
Very few suppliers focus solely on supplying small-scale data centers. For most suppliers it is a complementary activity to supplying larger data centers, IT / telecommunication systems, power systems, cooling systems, and / or IT rack systems and enclosures. A growing number of organizations, mainly in North America, use small-scale data centers to provide colocation services.
