Spending on data centers, including for resiliency and sustainability, is growing; forecasting capacity is the largest operator challenge; and the use of lithium-ion batteries and other technologies is more common. These are some of the findings of the 2021 Uptime Institute annual survey of data center designers, service suppliers and equipment vendors.

The Uptime Institute Global Survey of Data Center Designers, Consultants and Vendors 2021 shows that suppliers are facing expansion on several fronts. For the third year in a row, about 80% say customer spending is at or above normal levels.
